Götterdämmerung

Hello and welcome back to another Forgotten Hope 2 update.

Today we are showing off the final map that will feature in the upcoming version 2.5, the veteran Seelow Heights. But first, we'd like to thank everyone that has voted us into the Top 100 of this year's ModDB Mod of the Year awards. If you'd like to vote for us in the second round, click the image below:

Many of you will remember the Seelow Heights map in Forgotten Hope and might notice a few similarities between the old and new. That is because Schism, Stubbfan and Ts4EVER based this latest incarnation on the previous work of Turbo_tiger. Of course, you don't need to have played Forgotten Hope to recognise this map! Viewers of our recent devstream got a sneak peak at the map, along with some of its content, history and gameplay. Check it out again here.

After more than 5 years of fighting, the Second World War is drawing to a close. Only one major obstacle stands between the Red Army and their ultimate prize: the capital of Germany, Berlin.

The remnants of the once mighty Wehrmacht are digging in on the Seelow Heights, a commanding terrain feature overlooking the flat Oder river plains, muddy and flooded in this cold, wet spring. The battle opens to the thunder of 20000 guns pounding the German positions.

You can find the minimap and a preliminary vehicle listing here.

That's all for today, but be sure to come back next time for another update. Until then, feel free to visit our IRC channel, our public forums, and/or our Twitter and Facebook pages to discuss this update and other news.

Hello and welcome back to another Forgotten Hope 2 update.

As many of you will have seen at the start of today's dev stream, we have showed off a particularly spectacular teaser video for the upcoming patch, made by the talented Hawk2k9:

With the release of this teaser, we can confirm that the next patch for Forgotten Hope 2 will be Version 2.50. This will ship with not only the map Pegasus, but also the first 4 Eastern Front maps: Dukla Pass, Arad, Sammatus and the as yet unannounced Seelow.

You can get an nice overview of some of the Eastern Front assets that will come along with these maps, and some answers to some questions you might have in today's dev stream. We hope that you enjoyed watching as much as we enjoyed making it!

Pulling Power

Hello and welcome back to another Forgotten Hope 2 update.

This time we will be introducing perhaps a slightly lesser known vehicle, the T-20 Komsomolets Armoured Tractor.

The T-20 was developed in 1936, using a modified hull from the T-38 amphibious tank. It was intended to act as a tractor for smaller artillery pieces such as the 45mm anti-tank gun or the 120mm mortar. Up to 6 of the weapon's crew could be seated on the back, while the driver and commander were protected in the fully armoured front cabin.

Nearly 7000 T-20s were in the Red Army at the start of Operation Barbarossa, and they suffered high losses with just over 1600 remaining a year later. The Germans, Romanians and the Finns all captured and used the T-20 for themselves. The Finns used them until 1961. There were some modifications made, the Soviets armed about 100 with ZiS-2 anti-tank guns and used them in the defence of Moscow, and the Germans similarly used a few with Pak 35 anti-tank guns. Our T-20 was made by Kraetzer.

The battle for Sicily and Italy was a war of attrition, resulting in hundreds of thousands of casualties for both sides of the conflict. Although often overshadowed by the Western and Eastern fronts, the Italian Front represented was crucial for the war effort by eliminating a major axis power, mobilizing a massive international coalition from nations from North and South America, Europe, Africa, India, and Oceania, and diverting major resources from the Eastern Front.

In this campaign, you will get the choice to serve as an Allied liberator, storming the beaches of Italy and liberating Rome itself, or serve as an Axis defender, defending mountains and cities known from antiquity. Tactics and cooperation will be critical in deciding the fate of the peninsula.

Every week your team's skills and planning will be tested against an equally determined enemy.
