Hello and welcome back to another update of Forgotten Hope 2. Today, we are proud to present Forgotten Hope 2.15. We hope you've all had a chance to download the passworded torrents, so you can get right to playing 2.15 after installing, but don't worry if you haven't, because we've also got a list of mirrors where you can download the unpassworded files.

Installation Instructions

To help you through the process of installing Forgotten Hope 2.15, we've prepared some step by step instructions. There are as many as four files available. First, you have the two passworded files, one of which is a full version and one of which is a patch. These files are in .rar format and you will need a program such as win-rar to extract the installation file. The password for these files is:

Password for the pre-release .rar files

>>important-=-read-=-the-ReAdMe<<

After extracting the installer just open the file and it should guide you through the rest of the installation. Just remember, if you downloaded the patch, make sure you have an unedited version of Forgotten Hope 2.1 installed (custom maps are not a problem).

If you've downloaded the files without the password (you will find links to these files below) then you must also first extract the installers from their .zip archives. The program win-rar can also open these files. Once extracted, just run the files and the installer should take you through the rest of the installation.

Visit the Downloads Section for a list of download mirrors.

That's all for today, we hope you enjoy Forgotten Hope 2.15 and have fun playing! Be sure to pay a visit to our IRC channel and our public forums if you have any problems, questions or comments.

You can have a look at the entire changelog here.

Now, we would like to show you another new thing in 2.15 - Awards. We decided to make use of Battlefield 2's award system to give players shiny medals and a place to keep track of how much they've been playing. The main focus in our award system is to reward the player for teamplay. There are medals and ribbons for capturing and defending flags, repairing vehicles and even calling in artillery targets. Of course, there will also be awards making a set numbers of kills with a certain weapon, or simply using it for a set amount of time. In 2.15, this award system will generally be experimental. We may add new medals and change the requirements later. If the awards are liked, we hope to finalise them before the release of Normandy.

Above we have 2 examples of the new awards. On the left you can see the 'Artillery Spotter Award, Bronze'. To get this award you have to get 10 Artillery kill assists in a single round. These artillery kill assists are also a new feature in 2.15, the game will now keep track of who's target is being used by the gunner and will award the spotter points for any kills the gunner makes using his target. On the right the 'Objectives Award, Silver'. To get this award you need to have 'Objectives Award, Bronze', 50 flag captures overall and capture 6 flags in a round. You can see your awards - and those of others - on a special website that will be released later, when it's completely finished.

Finally, when reading through the changelog you may notice another small feature - the Immersive Mode. This mode simply reduces the HUD to a minimum. It shows no health, no ammo and no minimap. To enable this feature you have to place an empty txt file in your mods/fh2 directory named "immersive-hud.txt".

That's all for today, but be sure to come back tomorrow for the 2.15 release! Until then, feel free to visit our IRC channel and our public forums to discuss this update and other news.

Hello and welcome back to another update of Forgotten Hope 2. Today, we've got the download links for the torrent files for you, as well as the dedicated server files.

First up then, we have the two torrents. In order to download these files, you will need to use a bittorrent client. We recommend uTorrent. Many thanks to Flüstertüte for setting up these torrents.

The following files are the client files, which you will need to play Forgotten Hope 2.15. If you already have an unmodified Forgotten Hope 2.1 installation, you can download the patch (788MB). If you haven't got FH2 installed, or if you have modified your installation, you will have to download the full version (1649MB). Both files are protected by a password, which will be released on Friday the 5th at 1900 UTC.

The following files are the dedicated server files, which you will only need if you are planning to host a dedicated server of Forgotten Hope 2.15. Normal players should not need to download these files.

That's all for this week, but be sure to come back next time for another update. Until then, feel free to visit our IRC channel and our public forums to discuss this update and other news.

The Road to Forgotten Hope 2.15: Part 1

Hello and welcome back to another update of Forgotten Hope. This week we have a rather special update, because not only do we have a releasedate for patch 2.15, we also want to show off the last of the 2.15 content you haven't seen yet! Earlier this week we finished our first 2.15 release candidate. Although it did contain some bugs, we are confident we can iron them all out this week and have our long awaited patch ready to be released on...

Friday the 5th of December, 2008 at 1900UTC

The usual passworded torrent and serverfiles will be available on Wednesday the 3rd.

One of the earliest maps planned for the Forgotten Hope 2 North African theater of war was The Fall of Tobruk. A map about the German capture of the city on June 21st, 1942. Many statics were made especially for this map, but unfortunately it could not be finished in time for the 2.0 or the 2.1 release. This week however, the map was finally finished and because it is a map we have all been looking forward to seeing in FH2 for nearly two years, we have made a special teaser trailer to show it off. The Fall of Tobruk was made by Lili Marlene, Fenring and Lobo and the unique statics, which are not used on any other map were made by Toddel, Malsa, Lobo, Knoffhoff, Smig and Digital Assassin. Extra credits go to Zero for the excellent research. The Tobruk Teaser Trailer was made by Bob Sacamano.

In 1941 the Australians had held Tobruk for 9 months, until Rommel’s withdrawal to the west. That winter, the Middle East Command in Cairo had decided that without naval support it would be impossible for the Tobruk fortress ever to be held in isolation. At length, a compromise was reached. Tobruk was to be temporarily invested while a new strike force was built up near the frontier. The main part of the garrison was to be formed by the 2nd South African Division. Rommel’s zero hour was 05h20 on 20 June 1942. As the first rays of sunlight began to creep over the desert, the long black lines of tanks, trucks and infantry slowly started to move forward. By dawn on the 21st of June, Tobruk was a pile of ruins.

The Fall of Tobruk is definately the map in Forgotten Hope 2 that has had the most work done on it. As already mentioned above, it was one of the first maps planned for Forgotten Hope 2. The first unique static for this map was added to the build in June 2006. Now, 30 months later, this map has nearly 100 unique statics that were especially made for this map.

There are two more things we would like to show today. The first is the Geballte Ladung, made by Rad and Toddel and the second is another oldie; the Panzer III Ausf. N. This tank was actually the first tank in Forgotten Hope 2, but since we had no maps to put it on in 2.0 it was ignored. Then in 2.1 came the map Mareth Line, where the Panzer III Ausf. N could be used, but unfortunately the code was not up to date. In 2.15, this tank will be protecting the Tiger from enemy infantry on Mareth Line. The Panzer III Ausf. N was made by Rad and re-exported and re-coded by Gunnie.

That's all for this week, but be sure to come back next time for another update. Until then, feel free to visit our IRC channel and our public forums to discuss this update and other news.
