Burn After Driving27.02.2011 19:00 GMT Hello and welcome back to another update of Forgotten Hope 2. Today we have two brand new weapons of war for the Axis armies. Enjoy! Up first we have FH2's second flare gun; the Leuchtpistole 34! The Leuchtpistole 34 was a German flare gun introduced into service in 1928 by the Walther company. It featured a relatively simple design with a 27mm, smooth bore barrel, a break-action breech, and it soon became the standard signal device of the German armed forces. However, German engineers soon realized the potential the Leuchtpistole had for other uses. A rifled, 23mm insert barrel was used to fire a variety of flare and explosive ammunition, and the weapon became known as the Kampfpistole or "combat pistol". This variant was capable of firing, amongst other things, a hand-grenade that was attached to a long wooden stick. While the Stielhandgranate was too heavy, the Eierhandgranate proved much more practical for this purpose. The Leuchtpistole 34 was made by Seth Soldier. Our next item is a general-purpose truck for a somewhat, forgotten faction in FH2; the Italian Fiat 626 truck!
The Fiat 626 was an Italian general-purpose truck used by primarily Italy and Germany after the armistice of 1943. Even France received 700 of the originally ordered 1,650 until Italy declared war in 1940. The truck had a reputation for being reliable with an excellent power-to-weigh ratio. The 626 was used on all fronts by the Italian army and some were even sent to the USSR, where they faced the harsh climates of the Russian winter. The truck was introduced in 1939, and from then to 1948, around 10,000 trucks were produced. The Fiat 626 was made by Kraetzer. Up next we have several announcements. The first of which is that FH2 now has a new, official Teamspeak 3 server that is open to the public. You can find the information below. Up next, we would like to announce that Forgotten Hope 2, the 2010 Mod of the Year - Player's Choice winner, is currently looking for motivated individuals to join our active developer team. We are mostly interested in 3D and 2D artists, coders, and level designers, but we will evaluate each application individually. Anyone is welcome to apply. You can check here for more information. Lastly, we have an announcement from the World at War tournament regarding their Friday public play event. Here's what they had to say. The World at War Tournament invites you to join our weekly Public Play event on our North American FH2 server. Come and play Forgotten Hope 2 with WaW's international, friendly and teamplay orientated members. You're encouraged to use either BF2 VOIP in Squads or our own TS3 server to communicate. When: Two core sessions every Friday evening, one suited for euros, the other suited for American players starting at: Euro core evening session: American core evening session: The two core session are set up to have the most players attending at the same time, but if you want to stay longer and keep the server full, you're more than welcome. Where: What: That's all for this week, but be sure to come back next time for another update. Until then, feel free to visit our IRC channel and our public forums. Boom, Headshot01.02.2011 20:00 GMT Hello and welcome back to another update of Forgotten Hope. Today we have two brand-new weapons for US troops serving in Europe.
First up we have a brand-new anti-tank weapon for US troops serving in the Ardenne; the Rocket Launcher, M9 "Bazooka". The M9 Bazooka was a 60mm anti-tank weapon used by US troops in the later stages of WWII. Starting in 1944, it began to supplement the older, M1 and M1A1 models. The new variant featured metal furniture, a reinforced launch tube, and even had an optical sight for improved accuracy. While the M1 could only penetrate up to 80mm of armor, the M9 fired the improved M6A3 rocket, and could penetrate up to 126mm of armor, but with the introduction of heavier tanks and improved armor, the weapon's effectiveness was limited to destroying bunkers and fixed fortifications. The M9 Bazooka was modeled by Darren01 and textured by PointBlank86. Up next is a render of a rifle that saw action throughout World War II despite being replaced in 1937; the M1903A1 Springfield rifle. The M1903 Springfield rifle was a bolt-action, clip-fed rifle, used during both World War I and World War II, that represented the Army's first attempt at a standardized weapon. Although it was already being replaced in 1937 by the semi-automatic M1 Garand, the A1 version of the rifle was still used by various front-line units. Army Rangers and Marine Scouts preferred the rifle for reconnaissance and commando missions, and grenadier troops used the M1903A1 as a platform for rifle grenades. The M1903A1 Springfield was made by Seth Soldier. That's all for this week, but be sure to come back next time for another update. Until then, feel free to visit our IRC channel and our public forums. Not a Step Backwards16.01.2011 18:00 GMT Hello and welcome back to another update of Forgotten Hope. We are proud to announce that today we are ready to show off some of our latest work that we've been keeping under wraps for some time now. But before that, please welcome Zeta to the team, who will be helping us to create static models. Firstly, we would like to once more thank everyone for helping us win the 2010 Mod of the Year contest. We fully appreciate everyone's support for our mod. And now, as promised, we have a teaser image, and several renders and in-game screenshots of our latest and greatest projects. Over the past few months, we have been working to bring more content to FH2 at a faster rate, yet with the same level of quality. As many of you know, our next project is the Battle of the Bulge. At the same, the decision was made to bring FH2 to the Eastern Front. Today, we are proud to reveal the first results of that decision: a teaser image done by FatJoe, and two new Soviet tanks. Click on the image below to download the wallpaper pack! Up next are the first of what we hope to be many Soviet vehicles: the KV-1S heavy tank and the SU-152 Assault Gun. The KV-1S was introduced in late 1942 with 1,370 tanks produced. It was based off the pre-existing KV-1, and featured lighter armor, a smaller turret, along with a 76mm gun. As a result, the KV-1S was faster, with a top speed of 43 km/h. The heavy tank was also the first tank to feature a commander's cupola with all-around vision blocks, which was a first for Soviet heavy tanks. However, with the thinner armor, the tank was called into question since the T-34 could do everything the KV could do. The KV-1S was made by Toddel. The SU-152, or "beast killer", was a heavy self-propelled gun (SPG) armed with a 152mm howitzer. Since it was intended for providing artillery fire, the SPG was generally issued high-explosive (HE) rounds. The SU-152 became notorious for being able to knock out many of the heavy German tanks, and was even able to completely rip the turret off of a Tiger tank by simply firing HE shells at it. After Kursk, the SU-152 was used in its intended role, which was to destroy German fortifications, on all Soviet fronts, but it would later be replaced by the new ISU-152. The SU-152 was made by Pointblank86 and Toddel. While we have certainly progressed far in our efforts, all Eastern Front content will be released after the Battle of the Bulge. However, what this does mean is that the Soviet Armies are finally coming to Forgotten Hope 2. On a final note, we have some in-game screenshots of some of the maps to be featured in our upcoming Battle of the Bulge patch. Lastly, we have an update from Forgotten Honor regarding their new campaign. Here's what they had to say.
That's all for this week, but be sure to come back next time for another update. Until then, feel free to visit our IRC channel and our public forums. |
