Hello and welcome back to another Forgotten Hope 2 update. Today we are showing off some more of the improvised weapons that will be showing up in the hands of our Norwegian faction. The petrol bomb is nothing more than fragile container filled with flammable liquid and tied to an ignition source. The classic form is a glass bottle filled with petrol and tied off with a petrol soaked rag. They first appeared during the Spanish Civil War, and would go on to see widespread use in WW2 and beyond. They were first and foremost an anti-tank weapon, relying on the smoke and burning fuel to choke out the engine or crew. The smaller pre war tanks that dominated the early war years were especially vulnerable to this, especially if their engine air intakes could be directly hit. Dynamite was invented by Alfred Nobel in 1866 as the culmination of his work to find a way of stabilising extremely shock sensitive nitroglycerine into an explosive that could be used for mining. By soaking it into diatomaceous earth, it was rendered considerably safer and became widespread in civilian uses. The Norwegian Army distributed communiques during the 1940 invasion that explained how to create both dynamite charges and petrol bombs, with the latter even being refereed to as Hitler Cocktails. Both the improvised petrol bomb and dynamite bundle were made by Ashton. That's all for this week, but be sure to come back next time for another update. Until then, feel free to visit our Discord, our public forums, our Twitter, our subreddit, and/or Facebook pages to discuss this update and other news.
