Hello and welcome back to another update of Forgotten Hope. Yesterday we posted a preview image and a bit of cryptic nonsense. Today it is time to deliver on that nonsense! Today, finally, you can see the first part of the most often requested object since Forgotten Hope 2 was announced. We had to take a long road to get there, but finally, we are able to present the German player model.

We wanted to create a little extra buzz for today, since for us it is a huge milestone. Completing our first player model has been the most difficult, and at the same time most critical single development hurdle since we started working on Forgotten Hope 2. We were a bit startled at the firestorm of comment that our little preview picture created—-we would never have predicted it, but are happy to find out how many people care so much about what we put in our news.

But rather than more words, we would like to show you the goods. The German player model wears a uniform typical of a Deutsche Afrika Korps infantryman from the 1941-early 1942 period, based on research by Lightning, Taranov and Zero. We have shown him with a selection of kit and weapon items to give you an idea of the variety, but there is more to come in future updates.

The DAK landser was modeled by Zero, who weighted the model, created the normal map and performed the initial skinning as well. The skin was refined by McGibs and the exporting and coding was done by ctz. The lovely renders were created by Rad, and the whole team subjected those already mentioned to incessant kibitzing until we decided it was ready to show the public. We hope you feel it was worth the long wait.

Please check back next weekend for the next Forgotten Hope news update, which will include even more new images of our mod’s development. Until then we would like to invite all those who wish to send praise, criticism, threats or slanders to our IRC channel and public forums to discuss this update.

Hello and welcome back to another update of Forgotten Hope. It is time to unveil some new content for the British forces today. But before that we have some community news to spread. The Soldiers of Virtue are hosting an Forgotten Hope tournament - The Fall 2006 - is beginning in September 2006. For more information you can visit here.

Landing in the bull's-eye is today's first item. Named after the two Shanghai police officers who invented it, William E. Fairbairn and Eric Anthony Sykes, we have the Fairbairn & Sykes Commando Knife for you. Its 7.5-inch blade will put you on excellent terms in any close combat situation. Although not standard issue for most troops, it was a sought after item among both US and British troops. The Fairbairn Sykes was created by Rad.

Our second object of interest today is the Bristol Type 156 Beaufighter Mk.IC. It served in almost all theatres of war and performed a variety of missions--from heavy fighter to torpedo bomber. More than 5,500 were produced between 1939 and 1945. Furthermore this aircraft was one of the first to be equipped with an airborne radar set. This multipurpose aircraft will come in very handy against the Germans in Africa. It was modeled by FH2 Betatester SirFluffy and skinned by AceS.

That's all for today, but be sure to come back next week for another Forgotten Hope update. And don't forget to join us on IRC. Feel free to visit our public forums to discuss this update or other news.

Bunker Mentality

Hello and welcome back to another update of Forgotten Hope. Today we have a lot of images of objects that will create much of the atmosphere for Forgotten Hope 2. We would like to start with the updated quonset hut, which has a number of amenities to help you feel more comfortable while you visit. The barracks furniture was made by Lobo.

The next two pieces of art are important accessories for every commander. Without communication there is no command, and without radio there is no communication, so without radios your troops you will be lost. The German and British radio table was created by Lobo.

One good place to put your radio might be the new bunker we present today made by Primo Itch. This bunker can serve as refuge and rallying center, for you or your opponents.

The last object within this update we have for you is a PAK trench system, also with an attached bunker. The camo net will provide at least a little bit of shade from the hot burning sun as well concealing your activities from marauding aircraft.

Right below the entrenchment, you will find another underground bunker. Although you might have trouble getting any sleep when the PAK is firing, at least you are out of danger. The bunker including its underground system was modeled, skinned and furnished by Lobo.

That's all for this week, but be sure to come next week for our next update. Until then, feel free to visit our IRC channel and our public forums to discuss this update and other news.
