Hello and welcome back to another update of Forgotten Hope 2. Finally we reached our destination. The Road to Forgotten Hope 2 has not come to an end but we can make our first stop. Everyone has the chance to gear up and download the first official release of Forgotten Hope 2.

And this would not have been a Forgotten Hope release if there would not have been any trouble yesterday. All our fans were so eager to play, that our bandwidth limit was exceeded - and limits at Filefront.com are very high! It took less than 1 hour to make both - our site and Filefront Public Forums - unavailable due to the high traffic load.

We would like to apologize for that and say thank you to all hosters spreading the news the best way possible. And we would like to say a very special thank you to our longtime supporters of Filefront.com, Warumdarum.de and TS-Rent.de. Especially Pro-Filer, Filefront Network Manager, and Flüstertüte to name two representative for everyone related!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

It worked out well and within one hour after the release were already more than 2,600 people playing Forgotten Hope 2 on public servers!

Now before we list all the mirrors where you can grab your download, we would love to present the last part of our Forgotten Hope Basic Training series. Once more director McGibs, voice actor Major and animatior Killi Vanilli put a nice video together introducing Command and Tactics. A special thank to all our testers involved creating this movie!

How could we date to release without a single trailer? We did not! This additional video, the Forgotten Hope 2 Trailer made by Bob Sacamano is a must see! Enjoy!

Now, finally after a lot of words, we are proud to present the first release of Forgotten Hope 2. Go and find yourself a mirror if you like and enjoy the game. See you on the servers and expect much more to come in the future!

Installation Instructions

If you do not have Forgotten Hope 2.0 installed you will need to do so. It all comes down to what file you have downloaded. If you have the password protected .rar file you need to extract that file now. If you don't have win-rar do get that now, as you'll need it to extract the file. The program will ask you for a password, enter the password shown below:

Password for the pre-release .rar file

#=->FH2-TorrentPass<-=#

After unlocking the .rar file the file installs just like every other file. Forgotten Hope 2.0 is a full installation, install it by double clicking the icon. Once you have done this you're all set to go!

If you haven't downloaded the file yet here are the links for the installer.

Optionally you might want to have a look at the MANUAL or the FH Wiki first or while you are still downloading.

Hello and welcome back to another update of Forgotten Hope 2. Today we return to our normal style of news update. Later today we'll release the third and final installment of the Forgotten Hope 2 Basic Training Course. Stay tuned for that.

In a news update many many months ago, we introduced the map Operation Aberdeen. This map has evolved and improved over time since then, and we'd like therefore to show you the version included with Forgotten Hope 2. Operation Aberdeen is by Augustus, Greasy Mullet (on secondment from Point of Existence 2) and Lobo.

Similarly, we also introduced the map Operation Hyacinth. Again, this map evolved and improved over time. Operation Hyacinth is by ctz and Lobo. It features objective mode for the 32 player size, handheld illumination flares and mannable emplaced spotlights (both with working dynamic lighting), allowing both attackers and defenders to use lighting to their advantage.

Operation Compass was the first major Allied military operation in the Western Desert Campaign. The Italians in the rest of Libya were unprepared for the speed of the attack under the leadership of Richard O'Connor. As the Commonwealth forces advanced, several large Italian units were surrounded, cut off from supply, and defeated. After some hard fighting, one position after another surrendered. Bardia is an as-yet unannounced map by Vic Colfari and Lobo and covers this confrontation.

Next, we have some updates to show on our Deutsches Afrikakorps and Gebirgsjäger player models by Zero with assistance from McGibs and exported by jodonnell.

Next we have the Willys MB which was modified in the field to add a Dual Vickers K (Gas Operated) light machinegun, as well as fitted with extra storage for supplies and spares for long range strikes at the rear of the enemy by the Long Range Desert Group (LRDG). This was modelled and skinned by Rad, with assistance from ctz. The Vickers K was modelled and textured by Rad, exported by jodonnell and coded by ctz.

The Sd.Kfz. 139 Marder III was a german tank destroyer commonly employed in the Western Desert Campaign. With an exposed cockput for the crew and poor armour, it's best used from a conceiled or hull-down position at long ranges. However, the gun is highly accurate and powerful enough to score a kill on the first hit on all but the heaviest of Allied armour. The Marder III was modelled by Toddel and Hail of Nails, textured by Toddel and exported and coded by ctz.

Last but by no means least, we have the 20mm Flakvierling. This anti-aircraft gun is sure to make mincemeat of allied aircraft in its range, delivering a huge rate of fire. This was modelled by Rad and textured, exported and coded by jodonnell.

Stay tuned for our next update later today!

Hello and welcome back to another update of Forgotten Hope 2. We have yet more goodies for you today!

To start: the third installment in the series of Forgotten Hope 2 Basic Training created by McGibs, voiced by Major, animated by Killi Vanilli and post-processed by jodonnell. This video covers Vehicle Usage and Armoured Combat. Enjoy!

Next, we have three items in our release process.

Passworded Client release

Thanks to Flüstertüte for setting up this torrent and his tireless help with our release and development!

You'll need a BitTorrent client to download this. We recommend uTorrent. The password for this will be released on Friday along with the unpassworded client files.

Dedicated Server release

These are the files needed only to run a dedicated server. Please read the included readme which includes suggestions on server settings.

Printable Manual

And last but by no means least, we have a printable manual produced by our betatester konti. He has tirelessly collected all the interesting information about Forgotten Hope 2 into a beautiful full colour guide. Thanks to him for that!

That's all for today, but be sure to come back for another Forgotten Hope update tomorrow, when we will be releasing yet more media!

Hello and welcome back to another update of Forgotten Hope 2. Before the release of Forgotten Hope 2 there is much more information to tell. As you know we always try to support our community the best we can. If it was with basic files for mapping for Forgotten Hope for Battlefield 1942(tm) or just by assistance on our forums. With the upcoming Forgotten Hope 2 for Battlefield 2(tm) we want to give you more than just another modification!

A while ago Purity joined the Forgotten Hope Developer Team. Today we would like to present his work and unveil what he did in the last number of months. Come on and have a look at the Forgotten Hope Toolbox!

The Toolbox is some powerful software delivered with Forgotten Hope 2. It was designed for day to day use with Forgotten Hope 2. It has several features we would like to introduce step by step.

The first feature we present is the Gameserver Browser coming along with filter, favourites and buddies functions. Whenever you feel like playing this browser will have up to date information for you. Select your personal favourites and have a look at them well arranged in a special tab, or simply have a look where your clanmates are playing right at the moment to join them into the battle. Furthermore you can use the filer if you look for a special map, server, player or what else comes in mind.

The Serverdetails allow you a closer look on a special server. Simply right click on the selected server and make your choice!
And by doing so enjoy the Toolbox Lag Compensation feature. This feature will correct the Battlefield 2(tm) ping compensation value according to your specific ping to the server as you join. As a result aiming is more consistent if you are playing on a server far away. It is no longer necessary to aim above, below, in front or behind your victim: Hit where you aim!

Once you found a server of choice or you choose to host one yourself, you can take advantage of the Game Server Startup features. You can configure all startup parameters here wether it is the required password or your desired screenresolution. The most common features can be selected right out of the Toolbox, for more special wishes the shortcut generator helps you to create the right startup path.

Additional tools as the Cache Cleaners and the Movie Disabler will help you to streamline your installation of Battlefield 2(tm) and Forgotten Hope 2, if you so desire

An additional feature is for everyone using Teamspeak. Add your favourite TS-Server to the tool and check without the need to join the server who is online. Find your buddies without serverhopping and join the right server at the right time. Make use of Teamspeak as command and control tool to share your info during a fight and increase your chances to win the round.

For your friends the Quick View function was integrated. Watch their current status on the most common voice and instant messenger tools. Using this tool the chance to miss any of your friends is almost reduced to 0%!

And there is more to the tool still! For sure every gamer would love to have his own personal computer. But as not everyone is that lucky the Toolbox comes along with a Profile Management for shared computers.

The Toolbox is able to update your Punkbuster(tm) installation to the most recent version. No server will lock you out for an installation out of date.

The last feature we want to announce is the Timezone Calculator. In the past we often realized that the timezones led to a lot of confusion. This tool will help you not to miss any news updates and arrange matches with players in other timezones. And if you are bored you might use it to check the current time of someone on your buddylist.

All relevant information according the Toolbox created by Purity should be available in the FHWiki by the end of the week at the latest.

Next up, we have the second installment in the series of Forgotten Hope 2 Basic Training created by McGibs, voiced by Major, animated by Killi Vanilli and post-processed by jodonnell. This video covers Weapon Familiarisation and Infantry Training. Enjoy!

That's all for today, but be sure to come back for another Forgotten Hope update tomorrow, when we will be releasing the next in this series of videos, the passworded bittorrent download and the dedicated server files.

And don't forget to join us on IRC. Feel free to visit our public forums to discuss this update or other news.

Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.
-- Winston S. Churchill

Yes, it has been a long and difficult road to this point. But we're extremely pleased to announce that:

Forgotten Hope 2.0 will be released on:
Friday 14th December, 2007 at 19:00GMT

The dedicated server files and passworded bittorrent will be released on Wednesday 12th December.

This is the first of a set of news updates we will be making in the coming week to help you learn about how to play Forgotten Hope 2.

We have tirelessly prepared two resources for you. First and foremost: McGibs with the vocal efforts of Major and the flawless animation skills of Killi Vanilli have prepared a course of training videos. We present the introduction to the series here.

More installments to come as the week progresses!

Secondly we have compiled an online manual in the form of a wiki which contains all the information you will need to succeed on the Forgotten Hope 2 battlefield.

Click here to read the combat manual!

This information will be evolving and expanding over the course of this week.

That's all for today, but be sure to come back for another Forgotten Hope update this week. And don't forget to join us on IRC. Feel free to visit our public forums to discuss this update or other news.

Hello and welcome back to another update of Forgotten Hope 2. It has been a while since we made an official announcement in form of a newspost. Today's news are the result of a server outage making our page temporarily unavailable.

This is what happenned: the server our page was formerly hosted on had a serious HDD crash and with that the online version and backup of the website that our long time supporter Filefront kept in storage were lost. In consequence we had to upload the whole page containing more than 7.000 files again. We feel really sorry and would like to apologize for any inconvenience you might have encountered.

Hopefully you will be glad to hear that the version you now see is not just what we offered before! The Forgotten Hope homepage had to undergo a massive update. Forgotten Hope for Battlefield 1942(tm) content is now on display as well as everything Forgotten Hope 2 for Battlefield 2(tm) related.

To switch inbetween you may use the switch button located in the right menu above the sponsors section. Furthermore you might have noticed that we added a Statics section, which will be filled continously in the future as all other sections.
The archives are now sorted by date in descending order, so the latest info is always on top. The added search function should save you a lot of time when looking for something special. But enough on this topic - feel free to take a look around, you are welcome to add your comments, suggestions to our public forums.

And this would not be an update if there was not anything new to see. We have 14 brand new images for you to ease any pain you might have felt in the last few days. The first 4 shots show the map Operation Supercharge created by Lobo.

Supercharge was a major British armored offensive which took place in early November of 1942. Geographically, the offensive was aimed at the Tell el Aqqaqir, near the northern end of the Axis lines, but the purpose of the attack was to breach the Axis defenses and draw their armored forces into a costly battle. The offensive was narrowly halted by a counterattack involving most of the remaining German and Italian armor, but with such heavy losses that the Axis positions at El Alamein were no longer tenable, forcing them to withdraw shortly afterwards. Lobo's map depicts Supercharge itself, as well as the opening stages of the pursuit which followed.

More impressions come with the map Operation Hyacinth, the first map made by ctz in cooperation with Lobo. The operation was part of the larger Operation Agreement raiding campaign which took place in September of 1942. The Hyacinth operation, aimed principally at the airfield located near the Libyan town of Barce, was the most succesful of all of the otherwise costly Operation Agreement raids. LRDG patrols under Major J. R. Easonsmith traveled over 700 miles and destroyed sixteen aircraft, damaged many others, and caused heavy damage to the Barce airfield and the nearby town.

The last images were taken on Alam Halfa, a map created by Knoffhoff. In a final attempt to repair off the precarious situation in the El Alamein area, Rommel started a major offensive with the goal of breaking through the British lines in the southern sector, turn to the north and close in on the British forces. On the other side Montgomery, who had just taken command of the British 8th Army and had access to intelligence reports that gave away Rommels plans, was preparing his defence at Alam el Halfa.

That's all for today, but be sure to come back for another Forgotten Hope update in the near future, as we are confident that Forgotten Hope 2 will not take too much longer to be released. And don't forget to join us on IRC. Feel free to visit our public forums to discuss this update or other news.
